Shutting Off The Hustle
I've been trying so hard to raise my energy and enthusiasm levels as we near the end of the year. It’s been quite a year of changes, personally and business-wise, so I just feel like throwing in the towel on work to enjoy the Holidays in peace, relaxing, and waiting for the New Year to start fresh with more energy. Why is it we do this? Why does our brain automatically start to shut off around Thanksgiving and all we want is to cocoon and mentally prepare for a fresh start? Or is it just me? (I doubt it!)
I used to feel ashamed for thinking and wanting this. Like I was a slacker. But it wasn’t until I listened to and was inspired by Jon Acuff's video series on Hustle, where he mentions that Hustle doesn't have to be constant, ongoing, full throttle all the time, that I sort of felt off the hook.
Hustle Has a Season, he says, and while we’re constantly hearing that we should always be HUSTLING to get things done and accomplish our dreams, it’s not always the healthy way to go. It's as if after listening to that I received permission to relax.
I now understand that things work out better when we take time for hard work, but also time for refreshing and slowing down. After all, we need to give ourselves the time to implement and comprehend what we’ve learned.
Now, excuse me while I take the next few weeks to relax and recharge. Here's to a safe and enjoyable holiday season!
With much love and gratitude,
